Phase 2 Of The Circuit Breaker Singapore: Family Time!

By July 10, 2020 No Comments

Now that the air has cleared slightly and with Singapore moving into phase 2 of the circuit breaker, family time is back on the rails. The circuit breaker had us craving for things to do as a family that doesn’t involve board games. We can now step out into our city, not just for necessities but also to indulge in entertainment. Many of us, around the world, have taken our usual norm for granted and this pandemic was an eye-opening experience, proving the words ‘you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone’; now that we’ve been given some leeway, time like this should be spent with loved ones. We’ve got a number of things to do and places to visit around Singapore for some good ole family time as we step into a new phase. Even with the leniency established, precautions should still be taken into account as the world is still at risk of the virus; get the whole family to practice these precautions:

  • Bring along a small bottle of sanitizer
  • Wear masks
  • Keep and remain a 2-meter distance from people
  • If you notice an overly crowded place, avoid said place
  • Use cashless payment options
  • Keep from touching your face, advise the same to your little ones beforehand
  • Immediately take a shower when you return home

Singapore Zoo

Home to over 300 species of fauna, the Singapore Zoo is a great place to start your family time outing! The little ones will have a blast exploring the enormous zoo, and it’ll give them the opportunity to learn about all the animals that hail from every part of the world. Take a boat ride on the Amazonian rivers as you see predators lurking in their habitat or have a lovely family sit-down breakfast with Orangutans. There’s even an area made for little ones with a water playground, a farm animal petting zoo, an obstacle course, and a whole lot more awaiting. With activities and attractions for the entire family, we doubt you’d get bored and will definitely be a lasting memory of family fun.

Resorts World Sentosa

Universal Studios

With 3D experiences, thrilling rollercoasters, water rides, and delicious eateries, Universal Studios Singapore is the place to be for the whole family. A theme park that features up to 24 rides, attractions, and attractions in different themed zones! Your little ones can even catch and greet their favourite characters in person, from the cast of Madagascar to the minions; kids will be starstruck. There are rides that will make even adults jitter in exhilaration. Some of the eateries and rides may be on temporary suspension due to the pandemic still at risk, but there are plenty to be the cause of a smashing outing.

S.E.A Aquarium

While you’re at Resorts World Sentosa, make a stop at the wondrous aquarium that calls Singapore it’s home, and your family will be in awe at the marine life that are featured. S.E.A Aquarium Singapore features one of the rarest mammals to live in an enclosed habitat, the magnificent whale shark and it’ll be a once in a lifetime experience catching the beautiful animal gracefully manoeuvring through the waters. End the day with a spectacular fancy dinner with the critters of S.E.A Aquarium Singapore, entertainment and delectable food at its best.

Dolphin Island

Have an adventure with a bunch of adorable, friendly Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphins on your family day out at Dolphin Island. Apart from getting the extraordinary opportunity to be in close encounters with these ‘water-dogs’, everyone in the family will also get the chance to swim and play around with them. There are also personal lessons along with your interaction session on everything dolphin and on how to protect these playful marine mammals, giving your little ones an educational insight as they splash around with the dolphins.

Cat Café Neko No Niwa

Their website lists all their cats along with their names and personalities; the best part is each of them listed have their own rescue story that really bonds each cat with the reader.

National Gallery of Singapore

Featuring an enormous selection of artworks on display, it’s a great drop by for a family outing. An art gallery can be quite daunting for young ones but not at the National Gallery Singapore; there’s an entire section that will grab any kid’s attention. Taking a step out of the box, Gallery Kids allows little ones to get hands-on with art with interactive activities to keep their minds strayed away from boredom. As your little ones walk through the halls of the gallery, they’ll be able to grasp an idea on the beauty of art and getting them involved in all things art will spark a whole new outlook.

The Cinema

With cinemas making its return on July 13 in Singapore, it’s the perfect time to revisit the halls of the cinema as a family. As the smell of buttered popcorn and surround sound echoes across the room, your family will get a feel of what they’ve been missing; everyone’s favourite entertainment outlet being closed for what seemed like an eternity. Sit back, munch down on some popcorn and enjoy the long-awaited movies that are to air on the big screen with the entire family.

Sungei Buloh Wetlands

I spy with my little eye a crocodile! Yes, a living breathing crocodile that occasionally makes an appearance at the nature reserve of Sungei Buloh Wetlands. Deep in the mangrove swamp, lies many critters such as mudskippers, monitor lizards, horseshoe crabs, herons, and so many other fascinating creatures. Take an everlasting photograph on the canopy walk that overlooks the mangrove trees, and all the nature reserve has to offer.
