THE BRILLIANT TOTS
PEDAGOGY

ACHIEVING BRILLIANCE THROUGH A HAPPY CHILDHOOD

Our Programmes are structured on the MOE curriculum, with extra-curricular skills-based learning.

We apply the following two approaches in our pedagogy for children to learn and explore a subject comfortably and efficiently.

These approaches are designed to minimise stress while enhancing learning and development.

This pedagogy is key to our mission of providing a happy childhood, a nurturing classroom, and a safe and loving environment for children.

Our First Approach

HAPPY,
STRESS-FREE
LEARNING

THEMATIC LEARNING

Thematic Learning is systematic structure where the units of curriculum are introduced according to a chosen central theme or topic such as colours, shapes, animals, and transportation.

The approach is based on the idea that young children acquire knowledge best when learning in the context of a coherent whole and connect their learning to the real world. This makes learning fun but also rewarding for your child.

EXTRA ACTIVITIES

Extra Activities give the classroom an added dose of fun. Activities include Breakfast with Parents where children serve parents breakfast in a playful, but meaningful role reversal and Fruity Friday, a monthly cookery session where children learn to prepare a meal from fruit. There are also Water Play, Newspaper Reading (for K1 and K2), celebration of calendar holidays and festivals, and excursions to destinations that relate to set curricular themes (see thematic learning above).

These sessions are designed to build life skills, inculcate values and expose your child to local culture in fun, engaging ways.

Our Second Approach

ACHIEVING BRILLIANCE

SPIRAL CURRICULUM

Spiral Curriculum is a teaching approach where a subject is taught reiteratively and progressively. Key concepts of a subject are introduced in their simplest terms, then revisited with increasing level of difficulty to build upon previous learning.

This reiterative, upward spiral method helps your child deepen understanding and build competence of a subject at a comfortable pace over time.

PACE KEEPING

Classrooms are made up of children with different abilities and interests who learn at varying paces. Children who fall behind their peers experience stress. Our teachers look out for children who may be facing challenges. These children receive personal attention, and are provided with more practice and material to help them learn and keep up with the class. This helps your child feel supported, encouraged, and more confident about learning even when they meet challenges.

FITNESS FOR CHILDREN

Regular physical activities are an important component of an all-round school programme. Exercise aids muscle and bone development and improves the physical coordination of your child. The active child focuses better in class and gets more restful sleep at night.

Childhood physical activities also have far-reaching benefits. The formative years are an important time for your child to pick up healthful habits that will stay with him or her for life. Our fitness programme includes regular activities and age-appropriate exercises designed to develop the young body and mind of your child
